🚨 The Dirty Bottle Bill is Wrong for D.C. – Instead of solving recycling, it adds new burdens and fails to deliver real results. 🚨 A Public Health Risk We Can’t Afford – Dirty containers inside grocery stores increase pest problems and expose workers and consumers. 🚨 Bad for Neighborhoods – More trash, traffic, noise, and sanitation issues will disrupt our communities. 🚨 Tough on Small Businesses – Corner markets, restaurants, and shops can’t absorb new costs or give up valuable space. 🚨 Higher Costs, Fewer Choices – Families and businesses pay more, while small and craft beverage options disappear from shelves.

Tell the D.C. Council: Stop the
Dirty Bottle Bill

The Dirty Bottle Bill is bad for public health, bad for small businesses, and bad for D.C.

  • Public Health Threat – Forcing stores to stockpile dirty bottles and cans inside shops next to groceries and household goods is unsafe and unsanitary. Garbage does not belong where families shop.
  • Hurts Small Businesses & Jobs – Extra costs, storage needs, and staffing burdens will force some businesses to close and push more shoppers across the river. That means fewer jobs and more shuttered storefronts in D.C. neighborhoods.
  • Neighborhood Nuisances – Expect more trash, pests, traffic, and noise from redemption centers scattered across our communities.
  • A System That Already Works – D.C.’s curbside recycling program is in place and effective. Building a costly new bureaucracy is wasteful and unnecessary.

D.C. leaders should focus on keeping neighborhoods safe and helping businesses recover, not forcing a Dirty Bottle Bill that raises prices, risks health, and hurts our economy.
